Cannon Township Invites Families to Explore, Learn, and Playwith Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo

CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Cannon Township is once again encouraging young residents and theirfamilies to get outside, explore their community, and connect with naturethrough the return of the popular Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo program.

Created through a collaborative effortbetween Cannon Township's Invasive Species, Parks and Recreation Committee,Cannon Township Fire Department, and other community partners, Youth SummerLingo Bingo offers children a fun and engaging way to experience the outdoorswhile learning about local parks, wildlife, history, and environmentalstewardship.

Participants receive a bingo card filledwith activities designed to inspire curiosity and adventure throughout thesummer. Activities include hiking local trails, visiting the Cannon TownshipMuseum, identifying native plants, removing invasive species, exploring parks,reading nature-themed books, fishing, geocaching, stargazing, and much more.

"The goal is to get kids outside,exploring their community, and discovering all the incredible resources we haveright here in Cannon Township," said Cannon Township Trustee Cy Balk."Whether a child completes a few squares or fills the entire card, they'recreating memories, learning something new, and developing a deeper appreciationfor the outdoors."

The program encourages participation fromchildren of all ages and offers flexible activities that families can completeat their own pace throughout the summer months.

Featured activities include:

●       Hiking Cannonsburg Hill

●       Visiting a Little Free Library

●       Identifying native plants

●       Removing invasive species

●       Taking a photo at Luton Park

●       Catching a fish

●       Playing pickleball

●       Visiting the Cannon Township Museum

●       Participating in Cannon Kids Rocks events

●       Exploring local streams, lakes, and trails

●       Teaching someone else about nature and conservation

●        

The Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo programreflects Cannon Township's commitment to creating opportunities for youthengagement, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and communityconnection.

Families interested in participating canobtain a bingo card on Cannon Township’s website and will also receive a copyin their summer tax bill, surprise!
